Car help needed!
 

Ok, so my friend got knocked off his pushbike today, with only minor injuries. The car he hit/that hit him suffered a broken windscreen and front passenger window.
The guy has asked for ~£500 to get a new window and windscreen.
Is this reasonable or is he pulling a fast one?
Not too sure of the car, but I'd say it was a 1995ish civic or similar.

Will be phoning round garages to get a better idea tomorrow.

Any help will be much appreciated! (sorry for the vauge details!)

Fraid it was mostly my friends fault.
Rode out over a two crossing, 1st lane stationary, but was hit by a car in the other lane.
The car was travelling too fast, but was still my mate's fault really.

oh well best bet is to get a quote for the work from someone.

My thoughts exactly! But what can you do? It doesnt seem right to turn to the guy and say "your car is worth less than the damage".

Give him the excess he would have to pay for the windscreen. This should cover both windows then let him claim through his insurance.

I would :rolleyes: and then offer to pay what someone like autoglass would actually charge (I'd phone them first)

tbh if someone broke your car would you want to claim of your insurance for something that wasnt your fault.
