I really like Alex's version.
Just listened to the Leonard Cohen version on Youtube and it sounds very dated (funny that, eh ) I also like the Jeff Buckley version, but think Alexandra puts more emotion into it Which version for you Monkeyboy? |

Re: Which version of Hallelujah do you prefer?
On my iTunes, I have versions by Imogen Heap, Jeff Buckley, John Cale (both live and studio), Leonard Cohen and Rufus Wainwright.
I've voted for Laughing Lenny's original, but Jeff Buckley's and John Cales versions are also superb. I don't like the way the Rufus Wainright refuses to rhyme do y' with hallelujah and sings do you. The song doesn't work as well that way. It sounds to me as if Lenny sings 'battle King', whereas everyone else sings 'baffled King' (but then my hearing is crap). Since the song is about King David (who slew Goliath), I would have thought that 'battle King' is more appropriate. |

Well the 1st version I heard was the Rufus Wainwright version used in Shrek
