Petrol Filler Cap Lock Problem

Hi all. Ive just bought a tank from a breakers which is in awesome condition.

However he previously sold 2/3rds of the SV Lock set (ignition/pillion seat) with both keys to another guy. However he forgot to sell the filler cap.

Any ideas how I can get this off? The 3 allen bolts are out but obviously the cap is still locked into the tank groove.

Cheers guys.

If you don't want the filler cap (or lock mechanism), I'd attack it with a large HSS drill bit.

Drill the lock out, then there's nothing stopping you pulling the filler cap out & replacing it. :)

Take the pump off the bottom. Can't remember how much room there is to get in, but if you can get in you will be able to unscrew the lock mechanism from inside

Yeah Its a new tank for the race bike so I have quick release to go on. Looks like that may be the way.

Cheers darren, I had thought of that way but I tried it and its too dark to see inside the tank and Its further away from the hole than you may think. Cant get my hand inside either. Hmmm drill bit it is then,......:smt083
