I would like to point out I was wearing full leathers, gloves, helmet, and a knox back protector.
I'm no stunt man, car pulled across in front of me with 10 meters between us on a 60 limit road (I was doing 55mph before you ask). I went straight into the left hand side of the car, got my ankle caught in the spoke of his alloy wheel, my knee was embedded into the mirror area and my left hand side slammed against the pillar.
The bike and car briefly welded together as I went over, with my left leg trapped between the two, the femur snapped then shattered (literally like glass) before the car and bike separated. The femur tore through the muscles, ligaments, and skin. I would have severed the leg if it wasn't for one tendon (which was half torn). My left hand was trapped between the grip and clutch as i started to go over, this caused the nerves in my left shoulder to stretch and snap. The left Tib and Fib suffered eleven breaks each and the ankle was shattered into an unrecognisable pile of bones on the X-ray. I broke all but a couple of ribs against the pillar of the car and punctured a lung. Unfortunately I landed on the bonnet of another car and broke my right shoulder (the socket, ball and blade). The impact from the left followed by the landing on the right shattered my pelvis into thirteen pieces.
I had a big accident 3 years earlier when I got hit from the side and run over, this buggered my right leg up a bit also (it is now the favoured/strongest leg despite its injuries).
I still have a limp, as you might guess, and every now and again the ankle plays me up. However, I commute to work everyday on my SV650S and I still blast around on the SV800S whenever I want.
I hope you do heal soon mate, it does take along time for even some of the simplest breaks to heal, but you need to make sure you life style is right. No smoking, very limited on the drinking, and exercise! I should never have survived that last big one, ever consultant i have met has said the same. I lost way to much blood, and my internal organs were all over the place. I am a Orthopaedic and Neurological case study, the human body can take a lot of abuse, but more importantly in can bounce back just as good.
I wish you all the best.
