Bloody unions

Are they picking on me, just because I am not a member.

They have royally F***ed me over. interfering in how/where I work and demanding that because I work from home, they should have the ability.

Now my home working is to be removed, I will have to attend an office 5 days a week. Even my boss acknowledges I will be less efficient. But we cannot have one rule for Tim.

Could you not speak to senior management and become an 'external consultant' instead?

Can you and your boss not make a point that it was a specific change to YOUR contract?

Was there a reason that you started working from home, have those circumstances changed?

Re: Bloody unions

I started to work from home as my reporting lines/job changed to the extent that I did not do any work for the site where I was based, as they were contracting the site, they shut down the office block where I was housed and failed to provide me accommodation in the new building.

My boss knows all this. but is tied by the official line that everyone must have a base site. There never has been a change to my contract. My contract still says I am based on my original site. It was simply that the site owner does not recognise me as part of the site. My reporting lines and the work I do is nothing to do with the site where they want me to now park my backside.

It is easier for all concerned to request that the site provide me with office facilities, rather than put in place a formal home working strategy. This would have to include health and safety, insurance cover etc. Too much like hard work if they formalised it.
