BBC coverage
I know a lot of you like to slag the BBC off when it comes to their coverage of MotoGP but I was quite impressed by this article outlining their plans for 2009 and addressing some of the criticism directed at them.

Re: BBC coverage
Yes it is a good response, but the BBC is good at making false claims.

Re: BBC coverage
I know the 250s and 125s were not covered but I thought the coverage of the MotoGP races was excellent. And no adverts along with IMO better commentry.

Re: BBC coverage
But its stil less coverage than Eurosport were giving... i.e no friday practice...
Loosing Randy Mamola's pit lane commentary is a huge loss to IMHO. As long as it doesnt turn into a James Toseland bum fest again and we have some balanced commentary I'm hoping it'll be OK, but I have my doubts. |
Re: BBC coverage
I think the plans look alright - although I'll hold judgement until the racing starts.

Re: BBC coverage
I personally think the bbc have done a very good job all in all, which may just be down to Suzi Perry in that white figure hugging bike jacket she wore last season!

I flipped across from Eurosport to BBC during an ad break (I admit they suck) in the Laguna Seca race - it was like I was watching a different race. The commentators on BBC seemed like they were barely alive. Chalk and cheese. The guys from Eurosport had a raport with each other and a sense of humour. They made one of the most exciting sequence of racing all year edge-of-the-seat watching. Maybe the BBC team were hung over at Laguna? Hopefully they will be better than the small bits I saw of them last season. |
Re: BBC coverage
It's not that Steve Parrish and Charlie Cox are especially bad commentators, it's just that Toby Moody, Julian Ryder & Randy Mamola are better. Much better. Last year's Eurosport MotoGP coverage and previous years for that matter were nigh on perfection (apart from the ad' breaks but there's not much can be done about them).
I'll miss the Eurosport coverage like I missed Murray Walker when F1 switched to ITV - hell, I even got to like James Allen, FFS - but I'm sure I'll get used to the BBC coverage. Fingers crossed the BBC might even start broadcasting MotoGP in HD [-o< |
