Insurance - Garaged question
Just looking for a quick bit of advice. Just in the middle of moving house, currently have a garage and get a discount on my insurance. Unfortunately I don't have one now but I'm planning to get a large shed to store bike and tools etc.
In order to get the insurance discount does anyone know what actually consitutes a garage? (Wood, metal, plastic OK?). Currently loking at a 10 x 10, if anyone has any recommendations, not looking to spend a fortune. Any help/advice much appreciated. |

Re: Insurance - Garaged question
In my experience i have had to state what type of garage it is i.e. Brick or not
??? Guess it kinda depends on who you’re with |
Re: Insurance - Garaged question
Usually to make the saving on the insurance they state "Brick or Concrete Block Construction), To recoup the cost of constuction it will take a good few years.

Re: Insurance - Garaged question
I'll need to check. Currently I'm insured with express. I vaguely remember something about either a wooden or metal door, think I'll need to give them a call.

Re: Insurance - Garaged question
i can imagine the assessor's visit going something like the dead parrot monty python sketch:
"that's not a garage" "yes it is" "no it's not" "sure it is, it's just pinin' for the fjords" |
Re: Insurance - Garaged question
insurers vary - some insist on a brick or concrete garage, and some just insist on a concrete base. So my garden shed was a garage before it was even built :-D

Re: Insurance - Garaged question
quick question about this. if you tell the insurance company that the bike is normally stored in a garage, then do they expect you to park it in there ALWAYS. if you leave it out for one night for whatever reason, and it gets nicked, can you still claim?
