Gel seat pads?????

I'm in the UK and taking a trip down to Gibraltar in the summer and will probably be covering in excess of 5000 miles. I've only had my SV for a few weeks but have noticed it's not as comfortable as my last bike for long drives. I spotted this gel seat pad on eBay but it's £40. Has anyone had experience of these and are they worth the money?

If you have access to a spare seat - or can do without your seat for a few days you may be better off getting your seat re-covered and re-padded.

I thought it was easier and cheaper to buy my gel seat (£88 delivered, genuine suzuki) from the USA. Of course with the exchange rate now, maybe not. I got mine from ebay last year, what a difference.

If you're going to spend this much money, then get this guy to do a proper job on your seat. Long term it's the way forward. Both curvy & pointy have uncomfortable seats.

OEM gel seats were cheap enough from the USA, but the dollar rate might mean this isn't the case. So take you seat here for recovering.

Otherwise cycling shorts under your leathers seem to be another way of improving long distance comfort.

I spoke (well emailed) with this guy and when I have the cash I will be sending my spare Zed front seat to be recovered

Is reasonably priced too.

Also to consider is Plowsie - his Dad is looking to get into doing bike seats (he recovers other things at the moment) and may be able to do you some kind of deal in return for the loan of your seats so that he can make patterns)

So 2 places to try :)
