Aux lighting.
As some may know the 404 has a truely pants headlight, I fitted a Yamaha one which was about twice as good and in general I'm happy with it, got hold of a small twin projector setup and was going to mod that to fit in the current housing.
Original unit and Yanaha replacement http://photos-d.ll.facebook.com/phot...03627_2251.jpg the projector unit I was going to use http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...19754_9710.jpg Change of plan, not using the projectors anymore, I'm happy with the other headlight I fitted, and Mrs Rictus treated me to some nice shiney spotlamps (Birthday coming up and all that) so I made up a light bar instead, not quiet finished yet as I don't have a relay for the main lights, but Angel eyes wired in to the sidelight circuit and the neutral to the mains, (also the switched live when I done the LH switchgear change) so a simple job when I get hold of a suitable relay. this is the basic spotlamps H3 55w 4" (I got four, you know just in case... ;D ). http://photos-a.ll.facebook.com/phot...34240_7651.jpg And here two are fitted to a length of ex-dinningroom chair leg. http://photos-b.ll.facebook.com/phot...34241_7963.jpg http://photos-d.ll.facebook.com/phot...34243_8900.jpg Angel eyes and spots wired seperately, but combined into a single loom, I utilised and old Triumph plug and socket so they would be easily detatchable. http://photos-c.ll.facebook.com/phot...34242_8568.jpg http://photos-c.ll.facebook.com/phot...34242_8568.jpg First fit to see how they'd look, not fixed in place yet. http://photos-e.ll.facebook.com/phot...34236_6145.jpg http://photos-g.ll.facebook.com/phot...34238_7027.jpg http://photos-h.ll.facebook.com/phot...34239_7341.jpg Not happy with the angle as the spot mounts don't depress anymore, so fabricated some brackets to extend forwards and bend down. http://photos-g.ll.facebook.com/phot...534246_411.jpg http://photos-h.ll.facebook.com/phot...534247_753.jpg http://photos-a.ll.facebook.com/phot...34248_1096.jpg http://photos-e.ll.facebook.com/phot...34252_2700.jpg Fairly happy with the results so far, will update when finished. Re: Aux lighting.
Will the alternator handle it?
Personally I'd be tempted to not bother and just find one small projector that would take a HID capsule. |
