In case of emergency!

Just heard of this on Facebook and think it seems like a good idea.
Basicly, as more or less everyone has a mobile, you store the person you would like contacted in an emergency, under the name ICE (in case of emergeny).
The idea was started by a paramedic and apparently it's catching on.
So for example in my phone I've added "I.C.E Home" (parents) and "I.C.E SISTER" (speaks for itself).
This will help the right people get contacted quickly in the event of an accident.
I think this is a good idea so thought I'd pass it on!;)

So when your sister rings you does your phone display ICE Sister instead of her name?

Yep but I can just about cope with it, also put in the full stops to make it an abreviation. She's not a cold hearted person most of the time but don't tell her I told you!

You can these now as well, quite pricey at £20 but a good idea none the less. My only question is how wide is the use? I haven't seen anything in LAS vehicles that can read them, or in any another vehicle as it happens.

If its a minor incident then you can usually make the calls yourself, but if it is serious the last thing you want the emergency services to do is faff about contacting all and sundry. You want them concentrating on their main job which is sorting out the injuries you have just aquired.
