MOT in North Wales / Deeside

Hi Folks

where do you guys take your bikes for an MOT?

The obvious one for me is A&D in Denbigh, but I never get a good feeling in that place.... (probs just me). The viffer would make sense to go to Colwyn Bay Motorcycles but I have two Suzooks needing a ticket also.

One of the bikes is a green laner, so would be happy if they were not to finicky about mirrors / indicators etc.

I haven't had to MOT the SV yet, but if you want them to not be picky, maybe Road & Trail (Menai Bridge) - though that could be a bit of a trek for you.

I did have the CG MOT'd at Road & Trail, and remember them saying that it passed the MOT but needed mirrors to go on the road. Maybe give them a bell first?

The other obvious one for me is Bill Smiths, but I'm not that fond of them either.

I'm not sure if Buckley would do a bike MOT on a quiet day, I know they do cars.

yeah the Viffer sort of surprises me cos I bought it in June 2007 with 200 miles on it, but it was registered in Jan 2006.

I think going to Menai Bridge might be taking the mickey a bit with riding with no TAX on way to MOT station, but Road and Trail sound like the sort of place to MOT the DRZ :D

Yeah. Don't do that. You'll pass at least 4 static ANPR cameras just to get there (if you use the A55).

A & D are fine. had quite a few tests done there, a couple had, erm, not quiet pipes on them. Never had one fail yet!

Eddie on the Conwy Morfa , you can take a set of scabby rusty wheels and no bike in there and get an MOT ;)

Can ANPR get a bike? My tax disk is in the default place on the rear swing arm, I'd think it's well and truly obscured by the heel plate and my boot.

Rearward facing ANPR can. (ANPR = Automatic Number Plate Recognition) It reads your plate and then checks DVLA database if you have tax / insurance etc. Where you place your tax disc on the vehicle has no bearing.
