Refitting standard exhaust?

Hi,

I recently bought a Sv and it came with a aftermarket exaust, there are no markings on it that i can see, and was thinking about putting the oem exhaust back on. I had a quick look last night and it looks like i need a fixing to attach it to the frame were the back footpeg is located. Also i read on the fourms that sometime people cut the exhaust to fit new ones. Could this be the case? Would pics help?

So basicaly if i change it what fixing do i need, am i going to have to make alot of alterations.

Should i change it? im guessing its not legal.

One last thing lol when i sat the oem exhuast up to the frame it looks like it sticks out quite a bit.

cheers,

Rob

OEM exhaust fixes to the right side pillion footrest. No need to fit a bracket to the frame.

To fit an aftermarket can, the OEM system MUST be cut. A full replacement system would not cut the OEM system.

rob, to be honest mate i wouldnt worry about the legality of it too much......as thats usually down to the descretion of the mot tester......and i can point you in the direction of an understanding one in bristol who may well be slightly deaf should you need it lol....

like LP said IMO i wouldnt change back either....have you heard a standard system/can..very quiet.

with the one thats on there at the mo, if u can blip the throttle and people here it thats gotta be a plus point for safety me thinks....ill keep an eye out for the pics...

Re: Exhaust Fixing

Yours is attached to that black bar under the pillion seat whereas my aftermarket exhaust is attached to the right rear footpeg (like the oem one) so it might be more complicated than first thought if you're gonna re-attach the oem exhaust o.O

Having said that i don't know much about much so maybe it's easier than it looks :p

looks like the high level renegade can I have got.
Mine was off a curvy and now its on my pointy:cool:
Mine was mounted the same in the curvy too, even the bracket looks the same.

Have you got the old oem exhaust?
I know that renegade weld a sleeve onto it where its cut so it will slip straight on if you want to put it back again.

Re: Refitting standard exhaust?

A company ive used in the past, do a sleeve for re-attaching the standard exhaust can. It costs £12.50 and is very high quality.

www.fuelexhausts.com 01539 738333. Ask for Louise, she will help you out.

Ebay SUZUKI SV650 SV 650 RECONNECTION SLEEVE COLLAR S/STEEL Item number: 370162031811

I had one of these free with my Fuel can and find it handy for MOT's.
