they are all working now but i think they are on speed flashing way to fast |
Re: advise please
You need a different flasher unit in.

Its been covered before but LED indicators flash to fast and you need to wire in a resistor and that sorts it. I cant remember why or the exact technicalities of it, but if you do a search you'll find plenty of threads on the subject. |

<Keith puts geeky head on...>
Individual LEDs generally run on around 1.4 volts with a fixed current, typically around 0.02 to 0.04 amps per LED. If you connected one directly to a bikes 12V supply it would fry instantly, so a resistor is connected in series to limit the current through the LED. Unfortunately, the flasher circuit has a clever feature. It uses the current through the bulbs (typically 0.5 to 1 amp) to determine the frequency, the idea being that when one bulb fails it flashes faster to warn you. If you replace your bulbs with LEDs you're using a lot less current, so the flash rate increases. There are two ways around this. Either replace the flasher unit with one that's suitable for the low current drawn by LEDS, or stick a 33 ohm 10 watt resistor across the LEDs to draw enough current for your existing flasher. <removes geeky head> |
