SV written off - what next?

So my K8 was written off last week and I'm in the market for a new bike.

I am hoping that I'll get some money on top of the value of the bike (which will clear the finance) and was dreaming about a Daytona 675...until I test rode it.

It is a great bike, very quick, very torquey, engine is easy around town and on the M-way, the only thing that bothered me was the riding position. Yes it's a supersport bike so you'd expect to be cramped over, but I didn't appreciate how much I felt like I was leaning right over the front wheel!

I enjoyed the test ride, but am not sure I could live with it doing the daily commute to Manchester everyday and I'm less sure that the wife would be happy perched up on the pillion 'pad'.

So I'm wracking my brain trying to think of a bike I'd really like, at a good price that is a balance between comfort and sporty style.....am I going to end up with another SV?

Don't get me wrong, I loved that bike, but found I was dreaming of different mods, uprating the suspension etc etc, almost trying to get it to be something it wasn't....it's a pity they don't do a premium version that has a decent can, better suspension and other little extras.

Any recommendations on other stuff to look at?

Cheers!

*watches as everybody comes along and recommends the bike they currently own*

:D

You will get used to the being leant over the front position of a super sports bike, but it does take a little time.

Some idea of how much you want to spend might be an idea. Also what about buying a cheap hack for the commute and then getting the 675 as a toy.

One can never have to many bikes

Something like a ZX9 or 10? A little more power than the SV, and still pretty comfy IMO (for both rider & pillion).

EDIT: Fizz, Ha! I don't own a ZX. :D

You are the exception that proves the rule. No doubt TheGr33k will be along in a minute to prove my theory ;)

Sorry, should've mentioned, I prefer faired bikes as most of my miles are M-way.

I am restricted to 1 bike :(

The Daytona was just over £5.5k (08 bike, not yet registered)

I recommend a K8 750 or a CBR600F2 (2002 not F2 gen)!

:p

Actually, I do recommend the CBR. I think it's a bit like a less powerful ZX-9R.

I like the CBR, but I can't get the Daytona out of my head!

You wont till you own one, bikes are like that. What else do you like the look or the thought of owning ?
