Front Spring Question

Sorry i know there are loads of threads on this and i have read numerous previous post just wanted some peoples opinions.
Basically i have a few pennies to spend on the sv in a months time so plan is braided lines and HH pads all round, hopefully firms up the brakes a bit as i find them a bit weak at times especially now the missus has a habit of hopping on the back.
Now main question is, i will be getting some new springs for the front, do you people prefer linears or progressives?
If you have ridden an sv with either or both fiited can i have your views.
i know progressives are popular just dont know if i will like them if the initial stroke is really soft. So i am swaying towards some linears.
Just so you know i must be about 13.5 stone kitted up and its a k8 naked

many thanks

Re: Front Spring Question

If you take a pillion regularly then I'd say get progressives, with a twiddle of the preload adjsuters, you reduce the sag and get stiffer springs. Not ideal for out-and-out performance perhaps, but I use them almost always solo (would have got linear if I'd known) and they're a million times better than stock.

Re: Front Spring Question

Teah, stock springs are made from cheese!

The race-tech website has a cpring calculator somewhere on it.

IIRC stock is about 60N spring, Ohlins, K-tech etc all start aroun 82-85N

A lot of people say it's the simplest cheapest upgrade to do that makes the biggest noticable performance in the bike.

Let us know how you get on.

My head says go with linears so think i will go this route, another question now then whats the best make to go for? or does it not matter as anything is better than standard suzi cheese

Thanks, mind you the more i read up the more tempted i am to get progressives, much difference between hyperpro and hagons?
The money side doesn't bother me if 1 is considerabley better
thanks
