brake caliper

oh no ive just started a project bike with my sv650, turning it into a motogp lookalike (suzuki rizla) Pictures of progress will appear on here.
Doing simple jobs atm like full service, just taken apart my front brake claiper and some numpty has put the pistons the wrong way round and they are seized, was woundering if any1 had any advise on how to get them out as there is no way of grabbing the pistons

what a moron! Very large molegrips and thick wraps of inner tubes or a t-shirt or something if they won't pump out.

woah, be very careful using molegrips if the pistons are in back to front. when the correct way around you can get away with it if it goes wrong as the outer most surface of the piston doesnt usually go back to the fluid seal.

If they are in backwards there is a real danger that you may damage an important part of the piston surface.

Might be best to put the system back together, fill with fluid and bleed it to get some pressure before you use the brake system to pump the pistons out. dont let them come all the way out before getting all the pistons part way.

Re: brake caliper

**** yeah I probably should have mentioned that. If it was my caliper I'd already be ordering the new pistons! I've lightly scuffed mine (round the top where they won;t enter the pots luckily) with moleys it is stupidly easily done even through a couple of layers of innter tube. You need to pad them really thick.

Agreed.

Re: brake caliper

have you thought about 4 pot calipers with adaptor plates or a GSXR front end?

Re: brake caliper

Or some Sealey brake piston pliers. But filling the system is probably the best and least likely to cause any damage
