top bearing for front end swaps

Can anybody confirm the height of the standard top headrace bearing in a curvy please?

i've been searching hi and low for an upper race bearing for the sv to allow use of the standard Srad/K series stem in the SV headstock without any mod's to either. And it looks like there is one in the NSK bearing range, HR 32906 J, 47OD x 30ID. Only prob is it is only 12mm THK but reckon it should be easy enough to get a 3mm shim to pack it out to the correct height to match the height of the standard SV top headrace bearing unit.

You could just get one from twin works factory

Yeah should be fine, see which one's cheaper.

Yep I could get one from TWF, but i think it'd probably work out cheaper to get one from a bearing distributor over here rather than ordering from the states. just got to have a ring round and see where I can get them from. doesn't look like a very common size for a taper roller. but if NSK do one chances are some other company will too.

It's a wierd size but someone might have some kicking about.

According to someone on OSS, NSK are the only factory who make the hr32906. He is a bearing distributor and keeps them in stock, but he is in Oz.

Got a couple of enquiries out and there's no end of general bearing suppliers so keeping fingers crossed someone in UK can. I think an e-mail to NSK europe may be in order too. Also found a place called Nationwide Bearings who offer a custom service. The possibilities are endless.

well that NSK bearing is rarer than rocking horse poo, only offer I got on a week leadtime was from Brammer and it was £200 :smt104 or 6 - 8 months and still very expensive. I've ordered some of the taper rollers from zoran at twin works factory as there's obviously no alternative available closer to home.

is that 3 part bearing like stock or just regular ball bearing like for wheels?

that'd be great if you have found one with 47 OD x 30 ID Robw, and if you've got a bearing number handy i'll check it out. Just have to make sure it's either an angular contact ball bearing or a taper roller.
