spark plug query
I have owned my bike (2000 SV650S) for about 18 months now and in the time I have had it i have only done about 3000 miles.
The bike only has 12000 ish miles on the clock. It was previously owned by a mechanic and was and still is well looked after. I have just carried out an oil and filter change (with the help of my father in law) and as I am in no way technically or mechanically minded wondered how often the spark plugs should be changed? Also is there any recommendations as to which plugs are the better ones to use? Thanks. |
Re: spark plug query
Plugs are NGK CR8E. Or the iridium equivalent.
I'd be tempted to whip them out to have a look and get a bit of coppaslip on the threads. But they probably don't need replacing at that mileage. |
Re: spark plug query
cheers YC i knew you'd be on the reply list.
so how often do you suggest changing them? I have no idea when they were last changed. |
Re: spark plug query
I go for about 10,000 miles. But this seems quite alot...but then my plugs have been in my bike for 10,000 miles (almost) and I have no running issues. I'll be changing them pretty soon, so I'll get some pictures up of what a spark plug from a reasonably well-looked after SV looks like after that time, all those cold-starts, all that sittign about in traffic, all those high-revs, etc etc etc etc
