Non starting SV, your thoughts?
My 2002 curvy wont turn over. The other friday when it chucked it down my bike was left in the garage and worked fine on the monday. so i then didnt use it on tuesday and wednesday and on thursday it started but then died on me at the next junction. i tried in vain to start it but the power had died completely. so i took the day off work and had my local shop test the battery and it was knackered so put a new one on and now it has power but wont turn over. the pertol light was on but i put a fivers petrol in and it stil doesnt start. checked both plugs and replaced the front one incase fenda extender didnt catch all the water it looked a little bit blackened so changed it to be safe.back plug looks okay.checked air filter and box and now fuel present. choke seems okay? so i dont know what else to check?. im not the best mechanic but as you can see i try the basics. Anybody know a mobile mechanic in the bromley/kent area thats reasonable?.

Re: Non starting SV, your thoughts?
Well for a start, does it just turn over or does it duggadugga try and kick into life? Consider getting a mate to give you a push start and try bumping it.. also use the starter while bumping to give extra starting power..
*awaits YC's godly opinion*. |

If the starter motor turns, is there a strong smell of petrol? If so, you might have flooded it.
If the starter doesn't turn, maybe the cogs have "bound" in some way? |
