2003 vs 2007 sv650s
 

I'm looking into buying an sv650s and have found two I'm interested in.

2003 sv650s - 1500 miles
2007 sv650s - 4500 miles

Is there any reason why I should choose one over the other? The 2003 was bought for the guys wife but she doesn't like riding and has been stored for the last couple years. Are there any differences between the years or anything specific I should look for when looking over the bikes? Thanks.

the only difference i can think of

hight.. the K3 sits higher

K3 has a weaker engine apparently. Apart from that they're like the same. But yes apparently the K3 is higher. :o

with the k3 being higher, it's due to a back end re-design from 04 onwards if I remember correctly? Although the 2007 has more miles, 4500 is still way in childhood for these things. As Baldy Chris once said "engines like to be used" - an engine which has been sat in storage for several years might not be as reliable as one which as been spanked up and down the motorway, day in, day out... or words to that effect.

I'd be tempted by the k7 :)

come to think of it the sv1000 had issues with big end bearings (?) in the k3 model - suzuki never did a recall but they fixed the issue on all bikes from 04 onwards - is it a similar issue with the 650?

From reading about this forum? 8-[ I just kept coming across something about K3 having weaker engines or something. :|

I'm sure someone more experinced will correct me.....The only time I have heard of engine faliure is when they have been used for racing, stomping down through the gears, I think its the crank that snaps. You will have to been working the bike hard to do that on that road, but it is possiable.

Oh the 07 plate has 2 spark plugs per cylinder, and a lamda sensor in the exhaust system, can't remember if anything else was done.

I'm not an expert, but it really depends on your budget. Besides there are loads of SVs for sale at anyone time. I would look at best what fits in with your budget, then find the best bike you can.

IMO K3s look better, they dont suffer with saggy rear syndrome :)

I think we need alot more information to be able to tell you anything in detail ie service history, condition, have they been down the road/droped etc
