SV1000 for first big bike?
 

My bro is thinking off getting a SV1000 for his first bike, he is 34 and has only only got his bike licence last year. he has been driving daily since 17 and owns two carsdriving about 1500 miles a week so not oblivious to road danger. He intends to use his bike purely for pleasure at weekends as doesn't get much spare time during the week. he is open to recommendations.

Nowt wrong with that at all. There's a guy on here who did the same as him, as above, best of luck to him.

yes quotes of under 500 so he is happy with that.

I've been riding my 650 for nearly 5 yrs now, last year i had a go on a friends thou :shock:

Why does he feel he needs 1000cc over 650cc?

he has test ridden a naked sv1000 and loved it. Alos tried a fazer 600 and didn't go much on that. The new R6 he tried was out of this world but he thinks if he buys one he will kill himself 4 first bike.

if he's set on it you won't persuade him otherwise it's a thou so any mistakes it's gonna catch you out more than the 650 however as a bike there great imo.
