hiya peeps ,;)i dont post on here very often as iv been bikeless for a long time .but now im delving into 2 wheels again and am looking for a cheap bike just to commute and stuff .iv got a grand to spend (could poss stretch a bit more if i really had to )and have been looking on ebay to start with .obv im looking for something cheapish to insure and run (so no fireblades or anything )for the sort of cash im looking at its a curvey (theyr better anyway-i used to have one:cool:)but i want a bike with a full fairing ,a nice curvey with lowers would do .but in saying that im not dismissing most bikes .i found this

its quite close to me and iv arranged to go and have a look at it ,what are zzr's like ?the guy says he'll accept £800 ,is it worth that ?im not bad on sv's but a zzr :confused:

I have a zzr600 of the same vintage. very good bikes depending on what you want. It is heavy, and thus not a flickable as the sv. it is however smoother and a better bike for distance stuff. Will not be the fastest thing out there (nor is an SV) but still have enough oomf to be fun - in its day it was a 156mph super sports bike, but now definatly in the sports tourer bracket.

Things to bare in mind are the rear shock will be f**ked by now, plus the earlier bikes didn't have adjustable front forks - I have swapped my front end for a later one, and this is a cheap mod. I'd say the milage is high for £800, but condition is more important really than milage so long as it has been serviced. They can easily get to 100k with decent servicing.

Also worth noting is that the 4-1 system on that bike will require itr be have been re-jetted. It will have a big flat spot in the 5-7k rpm range if this has not been done, so factor that into the price if you are very fussy about it running spot on.

thanks that was exactly the kinda post i was looking for ,i had a cbr after the sv and i found it much smoother (il4 -vtwin ) and the biggest single diff i found was the suspension and the way it felt on the road .i dont intend doing a huge mileage just commuting and the odd run here and there .i sold my bike for a pittance last yr and now wish i still had it .id love another cbr but pound for pound a zzr is quite near to it (its not as good obv but you know):cool:
