Anyone know about car tyres for a Polo. 13inch

I'm going to need a new tyre for the Polo. I always used to ask advice from the people in the shop which fits the tyres.

But I was a wondering. And I feel helpless sometimes when I'm in the garage surrounded by blokes and little me not knowing what she is buying.:-dd

Is it worth buying from the net and getting them to just fit it? Is it cheaper or not worth the hassle?

Oh and what tyres are good ones. I'm looking for a fuel saver but with better grip.

Might be asking a bit too much, thought I may ask thou.

blackcircles.co.uk

I have always used them for tyres. They are super cheap and the price you pay is fitted. All you do is turn up on the day you have chosen at the garage you have chosen and they will fit it while you wait. If you give the garage a call they usually will give you the best time which involves the less wait.
They also give you discount from repeat business which may only be a couple of quid but when the margins between all tyre fitters are very slim is makes it the cheapest way to buy tyres.

Tbh any tyre from Bridgestone/Pirelli/Avon etc will all have similar grip, just don't get a cheapo comedy named Korean branded one..

Blackcircles system seems to work well, you choose the retail outlet to use so it's down to the individual choice to a large extent, but prices are competitive.

Continental EcoContact3 seem well received as a decent allrounder. I have some Michelin E3B, plus side is very quiet and smooth ride, good grip wet and dry, only downsides are slightly more costly and a bit squidgy (probably to do with the quiet smooth ride), tend to use a psi or 2 above standard. Claimed to be economy gains but TBH I find it practically identical to the original Bridgestones (but a lot quieter).
Goodyears generally have a good wet grip reputation.

i was looking for a tyre for my car recently and went into Kwik Fit for a quote. The bloke in there told me they would price match. So it may be worth having a look around.

It depends what sort of tyre you are after. Budget / economy / mid range / premium etc etc etc

If you have a Costco Card worth a visit, but even Kwik-Fit have good offers at the moment for top brand tyres-----------------Your money---your choice

P.S We use Michelin on my wifes Polo and for the couple of quid extra well worth the expense

Why? thats all i buy. £50 for 2 i paid once fitted!

if your doing lots of motorway miles go for decent brands, but if your town driving just get budget tyres £150 quid or w/e it cost for 2 michlins or £50 for 2 cheapo tyres and they will both last the same mileage around town.

(£150 based on a bigger car tho)

Budget tyres are far lacking in saftey (Ie braking for a start), grip is far lacking and I wouldn't personally recommend them, but that's just me..
