iran uprising
will there be change like romania, when the people won or another china when the goverment won. iran a place where gays get publicly hung and women get stoned , time for a change i think , well lets hope so |
Re: iran
Sadly no uprsising will occur while the mollas are in place. They have very well conected friends and as long as those friends want them there they will stay, they've only been in power for 30 odd years now dont forget.

Re: iran
Its mainly crap tbh my friend. Its a joke, a facade to make the world think the religious nutjobs that run the country for their own benefit are giving the people a say.
Sorry to say it but if the people try and rise up a lot of blood will be shed on the streets like it was the last time the students tried to speak up for freedom. A "recent" development in Iran was that women were allowed to drive a car or ride motorbikes WITHOUT A MALE ESCORT!!!! But only if their job requires it, ie a doctor who is femae and needs to get out and about to see patients. otherwise its still the same for most women...not allowed out of the house without a male member of the family accompanying them. When the powers who put the mollas in place want to see a change of the puppets they have in place and only then, will there be a change of "leadership". I wish it werent so but thats just the way it is. |

Re: iran
It was a popular uprising that forced the Shah out. However, most Iranian students I knew were appalled at the time their liberal and cultured country was becoming an intolerant and extremist nation run by islamic fundamentalists.
My Iranian friends still go back there, they tell me that if you do not make waves, life is comfortable for the educated and well placed. But for the majority is difficult. I personally cannot see a secular Iran happening in my lifetime, once the religious lot get power, it takes a 1000 years to get rid of them, look to rome as an example of religious power over governments |
