VFR400 losing power then cutting out.
My vfr has had no problems for the last 400 miles.
Last night I was out, and it felt like there was a huge restriction, I was doing about 30mph and the bike just wouldn't rev past 7k, even on full throttle in first gear. The bike then got worse and then would cut out. After leaving it for a few minutes, it was ok, and I could get about another mile out of it. there is a lot of air coming from the front end of the exhaust can, possibly making it run too lean? Tank if full. Cheers for any help Dave |
Re: VFR400 losing power then cutting out.
Sounds like an air leak. If the exhaust is blowing around the engine that might caue it, but otherwise it shouldnt be too bad
Check the fuel lines havnt pinched, check the carbs are sealed properly - my dad had to change alot of the rubber o-rings etc because they had perished with time What VFR is it? NC24, NC30, NC35? mind you, they all have essentially the same engine lol |
Re: VFR400 losing power then cutting out.
NC30.
I've been told that it could be the breather hose coming out of the fuel tank. My first guess was an air restriction somewhere. It looks like its getting pinched somewhere so I'll try sorted that next time it messes me around. Went out on it for about 2 hours today and no problem at all, so its clearly intermitant. |

DOnt wait for next time, you could be stranded by the side of the road in the pouring rain!
Check the fuel and air hoses and vacum hose :) |
