component list for a whole SV?

I need a parts list for a whole bike - where could I find out all the main components I would need to build a whole bike from bits?

Cheers

You realise doing this would cost you something phenominal, many times more than the cost of a new bike?

I'd buy a new one and take it apart

It's one of the things I have always wanted to do, but I think I've got the main bits for silly cheap so it should offset the cost of rest of the build, if you get what I mean?

I have a frame, swing arm, rear sub frame, yokes, side stand and hopefully a low mileage motor - all of this has cost under £100, I think that should help keep costs down?

This will help, but it'll be for a US spec. Probably something similar for UK floating around somewhere.

That'll help, I suspect you'll find costs start to rack up once you look at OEM prices on smaller parts though, interesting project regardless:cool:

The other option is to go down the usual buy a cat c and fix it ect... but I'm worried about hidden damage that I may not find.

That's always a gamble, but I sold my Cat C 675 and it was within a few hundred pounds of being ready for the road again, if a little cosmetically challenged....

I could just go buy a bike thats perfect etc.. but I want to just get involved with my next bike, and also build my confidence back up from the off.

Sounds like a bargain, prepare to get very bored of eBay.

I got very involved with one of my SVs. See here

Personally I'd start with a whole bike that needs work, than realising its got a bit deep in pockets, time and effort. Believe me Suzy was a BIIIIIG effort, for both YC (who rebuilt her)and me(who paced the floor over her), shes been ongoing for two years, and finally is more or less how she should be, with some extras that aren't on this thread. She was certainly a challenge!!
