vfr swingarm on sv - chain question
I've fitted a vfr750 swingarm on my sv650, mainly for looks but i can argue it is to run a wider tire, anyway come to fit the chain on, and its not long enough
i can go and get a longer chain, there is a slight issue, the sv chain a 525, and the vfr is a 530, so the chain doesn't really sit on the vfr sprocket right. Will i be able to get a front sprocket to fit the sv thats a 530, or a rear sprocket that fits the vfr750 that is a 525. whats the standed length of the sv chain? only needs to be a few links longer, which is annoyed me, because the chain is less than a 1000 miles old |
Re: vfr swingarm on sv - chain question
no idea to be honest would love to see a pic of the sv though

Re: vfr swingarm on sv - chain question
Best thing to do would be to get a 530 front sprocket first and see if it fits the SV. They are cheap enough if not. If thats a no then a 525 should fit fine tbh.
As to chain, once you know which one you are going to use then you need to just get one thats longer than you think you might need then fit it and see how many links you need to take off and then split it and fit it. Not much else I can help you with. I hope it all lines up right!!! http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/i...s/needpics.gif |

cant find a 530 front sprocket for the sv, i can find a rear sprocket for the vfr in a 525 tho, so think that might be the best plan |
Re: vfr swingarm on sv - chain question
may i ask which year vfr swingarm ya used and how much modification you had to do to make it fit
cheers |

Id imagine they are fairly standard with fitting so you might not need one for a sv/vfr specific. HTH |
Re: vfr swingarm on sv - chain question
its a vfr750 (90-94) model. Quite a bit of modification to make it fit, including machining the frame, re-using some of the vfr shock linkage, i've had some custom dog bones made, new brake lines, now a new chain and sprockets, and soon so be new rear header, as the stock one runs throught the old swing arm, and there is no room in the vfr one

Re: vfr swingarm on sv - chain question
Am I right in thinking the VFR uses 530 'cos it has more power than an SV? Therefore you should have no worries using a 525 rear as that's what you can find.
