big crash

I had a big crash or it felt like it yesterday. I face planted road at about 60mph rolled saw a on coming car bumper just miss me by about a foot and rolled some more down the roadhitting my head.
This was because i overtook a van and started coming back into my lane and car driver in front braked for no reason and i did and front wheel just went from underneath me resulting in face plant and i rolled down the road.
So i spent the afternoon in hospital as i was complaining about pain in my left groin/leg area docotr thoguht i may have fractured/broken my femur or pelvic bone but as it turned out i had't and he said i was extremely lucky to get away with aches and pains.
there were some cyclists there and one of them said i had been knocked out kos i was initially laid there with one of my arms at a funny angle in air but i dont think i was :-?
My SV650S didnt fair so well unfortunately and worst of it is i am only third party fire and theft. I didnt plough into back of micra as i wa sabout 3 -4 car lenths of him when i went down but my bloody bike slid into the back of him which is all i needed.
I am just so gutted about my bike iloved the SV:(:(.

Oh dear  that sounds scary mate, glad you got up and waked away from that.

Dont worry i'm sure wiht a little time the SV will live again. The slide and crash suprisingly well you know.

Ouch. Glad your ok. Hope you and the bike make a speedy recovery.
This happens alot - some car drivers panic when they see you in their mirror, so they do the worst thing, and brake!!

it wouldnt start when it first got recovered to me but i have now got it running and sounds just like it did before the crash.

It was a bit strange having neck brace on and being put onto a spinal borad.

the only thing that worries me is the steering lock bit has been snapped straight off can i get someone to weld a bit on?

Sorry to hear. At least you have something to salvage though :) Mine burst into flames :0

Are the forks bent? And is that pic of the yoke that has broken?

It certainly looks daunting but plenty of people have managed to get them back on the road. Chin Up.

ive rebuilt worse :) **** when it happens but as doc said you could have been busted alot worse so be a bit less upset with yourself, give me a list of parts ya need and im sure ive got some buckshee bits about, tbh a couple of hundred will have it roadworthy again by the looks of it, and none of it looks like a hard job (even a muppet like me could fix it)

Dont suppose you LHS mirror survived did it?
I dont care if its scratched and battered, provided it can be mounted.

Bike looks mostly superficial but I'd get stuff checked out on a rig mate to be safe no sense rebuilding it to find that one of the welds needs stripping off and refitting. Other than that you know your in the right place the help and advice for fixing it up.

Glad your ok :D

Yeah it is a bit weird ain't it? I found myself trying to look around to see the carnage butt just couldn't move. My left foot fell asleep and caused me the most pain.

Personally I couldn't understand why they put me on it as I didn't complain of any neck or spinal injuries, had walked a bit further down the road to get away from the flames and everytime they asked if something hurt id just shake my head. But I guess they have to just play it safe don't they?

Sorry to hear of your off. Always leave yourself an exit and some groveling room for people to do stupid things.

My SV has been repaired from this. Not having an easy way of getting the frame to a welder, I took the bottom yoke to him. He welded on a little bit of steel to the top of each upward prong (~1cm), which I then filed down so that when it was fitted it contacted on the undammaged bit of the frame just above the bit that has been knocked off. In essance this just gave me slightly longer prongs up from the bottom yoke than standard.

If you can get the frame to someone they may be able to build the frame back up though.

Geeze Glad you're OK!
Sounds like a heck of a ride!

Hope you're both back up and fully functional soon.
