well they arrived... and yes they are indeed Avon Storm ST AV56 160x60xZR17.
my invoice states that the unit price is supposed to be £95.99 and there is a note on bottom of invoice saying incorrect price on web and to amend... |

Re: cheep rear storms
To save starting a new thread...will it be ok to temporarily have an OEM front and Avon storm rear? Does the construction match well enough?
Any advice appreciated. |

BUT As I understand it the OEM Dunlops are not very grippy and as a general rule it is not a good idea to have a grippier tyre at the rear than at the front. If your tyres are going to run out of grip (start sliding), you want the rear to let go before the front. A rear end slide gives you a bit more chance of correcting / saving and also tends to result in a gentler crash. If the front goes, it tends to dump you on the floor PDQ. I await the experience of those who have tried this combo to correct me or agree with me. |
Re: cheep rear storms
Just got a set of storms from Busters, 120/190 for the other bike for just under £170 delivered. Ordered yesterday afternoon, told 5-7 days, arrived in Glasgow this morning. Sweet!
I have no problem mixing tyres. As needs must. Just don't expect to have a sweet handling motosickle. So ride accordingly. Feel it out gradually. (Although feel is something the plastic dunlop on the front does not have!) If the front is about halfway I would bite the bullet and get a set. Nothing better to treat yer bike to. Bliss! |
Re: cheep rear storms
