PAT Testing - Which Course?
My company are wanting me to do a PAT Tessting course, and so I have been looking on the web to find something, that will provide me with the confidence to test all electrical items in my office legally, without any come backs from Health & Safety.
Now the options available are a Certified PAT testing Course for 1 day @ £250+VAT or a C&G 2377 PAT Testing Course. Advice would be great, as I don't know which would be the correct option. |
Re: PAT Testing - Which Course?
Grrr PAT testing. Hate it.
We once were in some venue and they wanted to see the PAT certificate for a 20m 63amp 3 phase cable. I just said you get me a PAT tester with a socket that a 63amp 3 Phase connector will go in. We ended the conversation there and carried on setting up. |

All on double insulated 110v kit that theoretically cant be tested acuratly anyway... Thats why most of us go to the wholesalers and get the pat test stickers.... |

Re: PAT Testing - Which Course?
I have done the one day course. I was sent on one when I was an Instructor to the military. This enabled me to carry out PAT testing on everything within an IT environment which would cover anything within an office environment to include fans, kettles etc...
I believe you would be okay in your environment with just the one day course especially if you are paying for it yourself. |

Thats a new one on me:(
Just shows that everyday is a school day!! |
Re: PAT Testing - Which Course?
Price seems about right. I did a one day course back in 2004...and got a C&G certificate - Level 3 Certificate of competence for the inspection and testing of electrical equipment. I guess it was the 2377 but it doesn't say that on the certificate. If your up to speed with testing for earth lead continuity and shorts etc then it'll be a doddle - exam was multi choice answers IIRC.
