Yea your write if it was a cat c wrtie off you would need to get a check done by the DVLA

For a cat C or a cat D write off one bog-standard MOT test is all you need to get back on the road. There is nothing on the log book to say it is a write off. But mostly in write off cases you give the logbook to your insurer who then gets rid of the bike. |
Re: cat d back on the road?
IME you don't need an MOT
(although if your ins. co. is insisting on it then there's no way out of it) I guess it's like insurance companies and restricted certificates - some insist on them & some don't. Use your common sense as regards the log book. Don't send it anywhere, hold on to it :D |

Re: cat d back on the road?
right cat c and d need mot'd after fixing (cos your old mot is void) no docs need sent off for etheir and ive done this with 2 bikes 3 times 2 cat c 1 cat d and had mmany conversations with plod and the dvla about it

Re: cat d back on the road?
the mot (automatic 3 year one for a new bike) is void cos its been written off you have to prove its road worthy and safe, and yes the dvla are aware of it if an insurance claim is made (the insurers advise them) hence it beeing a write off, also its a way the insurance get out of paying out if its in another accident , well your were rideing a bike that was unfit for road use which invalidtes your insurance as you cant prove it was made roadworthy again after the last off
