Health Professionals of the forum help?

Just a bit of advice really - please.

I woke up on Friday morning, after sleeping in the tent with one of the kids and found I was really hot and so badly dizzy I could barely stand, I managed to make it indoors, but had to quickly lay down as I was starting to feel sick.

Laid down and tried to focus on a fixed object, but it was like the room was spinning and I had to keep trying to focus, it was pretty worrying.

Before anyone asks I hadn't been on a roundabout or drinking! But it did feel like that.

Everytime I attempted to get up the same happened, so I spent the day laying on the settee trying to look after the kids, not easy. Towards the evening it was a bit better and by Saturday afternoon the dizziness had completely gone. All that remained was a really heavy chest, with lots of cr@p on it (no cough though).

Sunday I picked up my youngest and went to swing him round and after about a quarter of a turn had to put him down because I felt ultra dizzy again, was fine after a few mins.

Any ideas as to what it was/might have been? and what is the best thing for clearing up chest congestion?

Don't want to bother the doctors as they are probably swine flu'd out, but I need it to clear up asap as I am marathon training.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Kev

I'm no expert, but that sounds like either labrynthitis/vertigo.
Horrible, my dad gets it. Usualyy treated with anti-emetic (anti sickness tablets)
Go see the quack, I'm sure they would like something different to pig flu

My youngest had something i the middle of July which gave her a lot of crap on her chest, but no sore throat or headaches, so swine flu was ruled out by the surgery.

A colleague at work passed it on to her via me I think. I wasn't ill.

He went to the Doc and he said there was a virus going round. My colleague said he felt carp, but the only symtoms he had was a a rash all over, which my daughter also had. This was the indicator to the doc, but was at the end of the illness!

So if you have a rash all over or on the body soon, then it could be this virus.

I had labyrinthitus last year and it sounds exactly like what you're saying. It went after about 3-4 days but at the worst point I was being sick because of the dizziness. I think sea sickness tablets work or it should just go after a couple of days.

It's surreal though!

Kev, I've just asked the Mrs. (she's a GP) and she says exactly what Paiste1 said.

Don`t really like to diagnose online but I`d say with those symptoms it`s either vertigo or labyrinthitis and i`d swing towards the latter. You obv need to see your GP and hope you feel better soon
