Daytona 600 or Aprilia Futura?

HI,

Now I know they are completly different styles of bikes and different in every way expect they both have an engine and 2 wheels etc etc, but myself and wife (who rides pillion) both like these bikes, I have tested the daytona 675 and liked it but they cost too much, so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these 2 bikes at all?????

I have a SV650s 2000, red, excellent condition any ideas how much I could get for it? p/x or private?

Start at £1500 for your SV. Rough figure, could be more could be less.

You have, like you say, chose two completely different bikes. Depends on how much two up riding really and what sort of distances you do, speak to Richie about the Futura. Daytona 600, Speedplay.

We only really do the occasional weekend blast or weekend get away, maybe 60-100 miles for weeknd blast and get away could be up to Leeds over to Blackpool and back again.

Although I am finding it hard to seek out a Futura.

Terriyakimonkey took his lady to the AR on the back of his 675. Might be worth dropping him a pm for his opinions.

Jenn and I did about 240ish miles round trip to matlock on the daytona and it was ok.
Its not the best bike for a pillion as they tend to sit a bit high but then you dont buy a bike for the person on the back.
Last friday we went down to meet the soho massive and again we were fine.
It is a much more fun bike to take out on your own though and is so pretty to look at (according to Von Teese).
Power delivery is on the button and has more than enough grunt for the uk roads.
Being a 600 it can be a bit revvy and youll always be up and down the gearbox but hey, its part of the riding experience.

Go for the 650, its got better midrange, I took mine up to the Glencoe massacre last year and also the AR08 from chshire, all day comfy tbh, nice bikes as well.

The problem I imagine will be getting test rides on either of those bikes. Not very common but the Futura is almost rare.

The Futura just has to be a better two-up bike. It's physically and engine wise bigger although I'm sure the Trumpet would spank it on the twisties.

Also there is the spares issue to consider. The Daytona is a four, and I believe didn't have a particularly long production run. At least the engine, in a similar form, was being produced quite recently by/for Aprilia and a lot of the cycle parts will be common to other Italian bikes.

I think Rictus had a Speed Four and Stewie has a red 600. Opps, Stewie has a 650.

Depends a lot on if you want to keep to twins or try a four I guess.

But didn't you spend all the next day in agony with your back Stewie at GM?

The production run for the 600 was two years I beleive 2003 and 2004 the the 650 was brought out as a stop gap cos they couldnt get the fuelling right on the 675 and so put it back a year and threw an extra 50cc,s into the 600 and turned it into an although better bike, not that there was anything wrong with the 600 mind but it was a bit revvy and couldnt keep up with jap 600,s of the time, although handling wise it was better for UK roads as the design was for over here.
