Just picked my first lock

Been having a little read around the net on the subject of lockpicking, purely out of curiosity you understand :-)

So, after making up a couple of simple tools from some hacksaw blade material I sat there with an Oxford Hardcore padlock, not exactly a cheap and cheerful lock (or thats what I thought) and within 5 minutes it popped open without the key.

Wahay.

I remember when I was about 12 I bought this little metal pick from a spy shop in Florida for 99c (+ the blimming tax!) and it managed to pick every single suitcase padlock we had, and suprisingly our front door when we got back to the UK.

...that spy shop was awesome...crossbow and a bottle of poison for less than $40. Bargain!

Hey, was that the big one on international drive?
That one was awesome, but it closed down.
I first went in 1999 to it, fantastic.

Its a good feeling aint it? I love picking locks for fun. Started with a till we lost the lock for when i was about 12/13yrs old (we owned a shop) and i got the taste for it.

I love taking locks to pieces to see how the levers and tumblers work too, its fascinating stuff to me.

Then i worked selling property for years and was always amazed at how little security people have on their front doors. I can slip most front door yale type locks in a few seconds and pick them in a few minutes if i really have to.

All of you who only have a yale type lock on your front doors, please consider getting some tpe of deadlock fitted too, its just too easy for those who wanna get in to do so!

Just enjoy doing odd things. Being out of work recently ha made me even consider getting a job as a locksmith, it reall does intrigue me.

I have 3 or 4 old combination padlocks that i dont know the combination for anymore and i've broken into most of them, 1 i cant get and it drives me nuts!!! I keep trying tho. And watching a lot of discovery channel and documentaires on how locs work etc.

If i was James Bond you'd be dead by now for knowing my super secret alternative super super secret identity ;)

It was on International Drive, but wasn't a massive place. Was a little shop in the Mercardo place if that rings any bells for you! :)
