Flatslides
Anybody in the UK actually use them? Must be a few curvy thunderbikes about or something like that.
People here seem to fit big bore kit before even thinking about flats  |
Re: Flatslides
I've considered them but I keep thinking of other things that would make me faster/smoother for the same or less cash.
Any idea how much difference they actually make? Druid |
Re: Flatslides
4-8bhp I have heard bandied about. No idea really.
Also varied reports on how much of a handful they make the bike when cold or not being ridden like a nutter. Oh, and I'm sure big snorting carbs will do their whole big snorting thing and snort big amounts of fuel. |
Re: Flatslides
4-8BHP? Hmm I could live with 83-87BHP :-)
I'm just not sure that it's worth getting over say a slipper clutch and a number of trackdays. :-) Druid |
Re: Flatslides
I've always read that Flatslides are not best suited to road ridding, thus I've not considered them much. Is this true, or should I be looking for a set etc?

Re: Flatslides
Well the main difference is you can't just give it a handful and have done, you have to match throttle position and revs.

Single FCR39 and FCR41 pop up on ebay from time to time (there is one on there now for 190quid BIN) but I've been a bit wary of having two dissimilar carbs (and too much of a skinflint to pay for new) Then again I wondered if you could buy say something like ebay item 220474980591, split it into two sets of individual carbs and resell one set on to make your money back. Re: Flatslides
They seem popular - almost de rigeur with the Streetfighter guys - especially those with the old gixxer 750's or 1100's.

Re: Flatslides
So what considerations for the type or model of Flatside are there?
Assume I no nothing of these whimsical items, and you'll not be far off. |
