Has anyone found a decent flip front?
I'm going to be needing a new helmet soon and the show is coming up so will have the opportunity to try loads. Just wondered which ones I should be looking at (if any)
I was looking at the Schuberth C3 but its a tad expensive, I'm pondering getting some ultimate ear earplugs moulded at the show so noise shouldn't be too much of an issue. |
Re: Has anyone found a decent flip front?
I've had a Nolan N102 for the last 2 years. That did the job well.
I wouldn't touch a Caberg. From what I've heard, they seem fine for a while, but the padding doesn't last long. I'm after a C3 myself when I've got a bit more cash. |
Re: Has anyone found a decent flip front?
Got a Schuberth R1. Nice, quiet and with the internal sunvisor. There are still some knocking round (out of production) at cheap prices, £199.

I've got a Roof Boxer V. Looks great in pictures but looks reet weird on yer 'ead.
Expensive, slightly noisy, and its a short helmet from front to back so if you have a long nose it'll be up against the visor. Otherwise great. Cruising round with it open in summer is nice, as long as you don't mind looking like Roger Ramjet. |
Re: Has anyone found a decent flip front?
You might be able to get something off a C2 - seems like theres plenty of stock lying around. Also, it might help to go for a bit of badge action - the BMW system 6 is the same helmet as the C3, but seems to retail cheaper.

Cool, reassuring that people do like the flip ups. Thanks for all the opinions guys, I'd forgotten about nolan so will give them a try next time I have the chance.
Top tips there orose! will keep my eyes open, schuberth may not be out of reach afterall! |
Re: Has anyone found a decent flip front?
Orose The BMW helmet looks similar to the C3 but I can hardly see Schuberth selling it to them and undercutting there own sales. I did ask about this in HG and apparently there are differences in the make up of the helmet and materials used.
Mind you for the price difference I would settle for the BMW as I have been very happy with my EVO3,it being the quietest and most comfortable helmet I have |
Re: Has anyone found a decent flip front?
Shark Evoline, retails around the £240 mark, internal sun visor and tested and meets all safety requirements as both an open face and full face crash helmet so you can ride round with it open or shut (the only one i know of tested like this! there may be others but dont know of any)
