hey guys,

So not been riding for that long before my off just under a month ago. I would say i was one of the more cautious riders out there in terms of protective gear. Always rode with full leathers, boots and even bought myself a back protector. I understand that you cant really expect to protect everything in an accident, but i learnt the hard way that i overlooked something important.

As i flew off my bike my balls dented the tank. Down theres still not 100% and gonna see a specialist wen back from holiday. Also the guy who deliverd me my bike back said he knew someone who had to have all his manhood down there removed cos it was so bad. Apparently its not that uncommon an injury.

So the obvious thing would be to wear a cup, but i read somewhere that if u were to hit your tank with a cup on you would do some serious hurt to your pubic bone.

So just wondering if theres any specialist biking groinal protection out there? Any one here protect that region in any way?

I dont think im gonna feel comfortable on a bike til i have some sort of protection down there. Either that or if i dont have time to fix my sv i'll just get me a bike where the fuel tank isnt so 'up' so you'd just fly over it!

Dont wanna rule out having kids...actually never mind that...dont wana lose anything down there at any point in my life!

Just wondering what your guys thoughts are about this issue!

Donno if there's much you can do about the SV tank. Of all the bikes I've owned, it's got the biggest frontal area to hit your crown jewels on, in the event of an off.

Some solutions
1. Get some of those strom grips for your tank, should hep to stop you slidin into the tank a bit

2. Industial Velcro on your leathers and the seat:p

3. Leave a deposit at an appropriate bank, should you wish to ensure you have children :safe:

I had a mate who had to have a glass rollock after his girlfriend landed a home run with her boot. She became an ex girlfriend after this episode. Not nice, brings a tear to your eye :cyclopsani:

There are two very obvious solutions to this problem, don't crash, or if you are going to stand up first. The first is obvious advice and will no doubt attract all the usual derision such sensible solutions do, but the second isn't that daft. I very fortunately haven't actually ever had to test my theory but I certainly go through various thought processes when I see a car edging forward at a junction, and amongst covering the horn and brakes I weight the pegs so my last option if i can't swerve/stop will be to jump up. I guess I've just seen so much damage done to people who have run into the tank, handlebars or the side of a car to not think about it.

Something like cricketers wear? Can;'t say I've ever heard of specialist bike balls protectors though.

Dunno if there is an easy or popular solution. The bad posture (ie slouch) of many/most riders certainly wouldn't help. Heck, it presents the groin area for a hit...

Dainese have been working on neck air bags... hows about 'air bag for the ball bag'. Certainly look impressive if the paramedic is female, oh yeah (in a Jonny Bravo stylee) :)

Not sure I would want an explosive device in my pants but the new Honda Goldwing has a tank mounted airbag.
