Fred's rear break caliper needs your help
Yesterday i removed my back wheel to get a puncture fitter, then put it back in.
My rear break does not move in the same way anymore! i cant understand whats wrong, it seems when you tighten up the front sliding mounting bolt it makes the caliper twist a bit when it is being used, pads are in correct, caliper spring is correct, i cant see im missing a bit It does still works although it moves wonky and there is excess slack than before, but when i ride it rubs and disc get red hot! i also got out the manual! assemble just how it said, I cant see whats wrong? |
Re: Fred's rear break caliper needs your help
perhaps if you had your location in your profile, someone in the know could pop round and have a look, or indeed if you provided pictures, discs don't run "red hot" for no reason.

Re: Fred's rear break caliper needs your help
looks like a pointy in your picture. The pointys have like a locator tab on the swingarm, it the slot on the caliper over this?

The thing is my rear piston for my sv650s k6 looks no different except when being applied it moves funny and rubbs...I have un assembled and re assembled about four times now and taken out the wheel again to make sure nothing is amiss there |
Re: Fred's rear break caliper needs your help
and I presume cleaned the piston/round the seal and made sure it works smoothly in the caliper, re-greased the slidding pins as well :smt102

Re: Fred's rear break caliper needs your help
Depending on what time i finish tomorrow fred, i could pop over and have a look for ya. I;m no expert mind you but will be on my own pointy so at the very least we can comapre and check it that way.
I have stripped my brakes right down before so i have a fair idea of whats what and where it all goes too. I assume you have all the required tools should be need to get our hands dirty? |
