Speed Triple Engine Management
As there are so many Triumph Owners on here now...
How worried should I be about the Engine Management warning light staying on... Going to ring around the closest dealers later to find one that'll give me a loan bike so I can get it taken in but wondering how simple or how horribly expensive it could be... ](*,) |
Re: Speed Triple Engine Management
much depends on why it came on*, after all it is a "warning light", without tuneboy, you're at the dealers mercy on that one mate, it could be anything from a sensor wire off to the engine about to self distruct (although provbably not):smt102.
* have you done anything to it? Cheers Mark |

Re: Speed Triple Engine Management
Not done anything I know of, It was fine riding home last night, started it this morning and it came on as I was coming out of my road, so I turned it off and wheeled it back home...
hopefully nothing major :| |

Local dealer had it on diagnostics, found nothing wrong with it. Was test ridden by 4 different members of staff; each one could recreate the fault, but when left running in the workshop, it didn't reoccur. They contacted Triumph UK who came back with a long list of possibilities, none of them solved it. Turned out to be a loose wire hidden under the fairing, which was getting caught when the bars were turned, thus causing it to short as the plastic casing had split. Cost a few pence to repair that, but did take nearly 10 hours to locate.... |
Re: Speed Triple Engine Management
Trumpet sensors are known to be the main issue.

Re: Speed Triple Engine Management
After looking into it today it certainly looks like its most likely a dodgy sensor, i'm going to fire it up tonight and see if it ticks over ok, it wasn't really acting that oddly this morning, I just panicked about the light at the time so didn't risk riding it.
Will get it to a dealer anyway and get them to plug it in and find out what it says |
Re: Speed Triple Engine Management
Take it back to Dunmow---------the have probably knocked or dislodged a connector during the service
Knowing your past history regarding maintenace do not do it yourself |
Re: Speed Triple Engine Management
There is also the "dealertool" software, I have it for my Daytona. It does the entire diagnostics side of things plus clears the fault codes. It doesn't do all the tuneing stuff that tuneboy does, but it only costs £60.
Don't forget that after the engine temp has been up to hot and back to cold three times the light will go out if the fault has cleared. |
