So in order to fit a box ..... obviously you need the box .... and then what ... and base plate aswell ??

You need a rack to mount the base plate to the bike and then you put the box on the baseplate. So you need 3 things, rack, baseplate, box.

Yep. The rack is bike specific, the baseplate and the box go together and they can go on any bike. I am keeping the box to go on my next bike.

Is it off a Curvy ??

From what I can tell, they are different to a pointy ??

It's of an 08 model (pointy) I don't know if it fits a curvy, think earlier models have a different rack. You have to do your own research on that. Here's a larger picture.

This rack fits SV650 models from 03 and onwards.
