Modifying an exhaust baffle
I like the Scorpion can on the Versys, but its too quiet with the baffle in and its a bit too offensive with it out. It also runs too lean with no baffle so I would need a PCIII or newer if I was going to leave it out.
Can the baffle be modified for more noise or will it just mean the engine will run leaner? Whats the best way to go about it if so? |
Re: Modifying an exhaust baffle
Best to see if you can get another one to drill/chop and if you mak a hash of it you still have your original.
I made a really short baffle for the bottom port on my dual exit Blue Flame. I like the sound but it's not over load and with the baffles in, it retains some of the back pressure to keep it running nice. It depends on how the baffle is made and how it fastens in. I've got a pic of mine somewhere. |

Re: Modifying an exhaust baffle
Depends on the style of baffle I either cut a fascia like what DavieSV's done (work well on that kind) or if it's really obvious weld a bit of mesh to the inside.

If it's the long type which slip in you could always drill extra holes a few at a time until you're happy with the noise.
