Sv won't start
Hi
I have a 2000 sv and I haven't satrted it for around 1.5 weeks it lives outside under a car port so thought I'd give it a run and it won't start not even try as though the kill switch is on, battery seems ok as the lights etc work fine, can't bump as I'm recovering from op, should I try wd40 on start switch? Or wait till it warms up a bit this afternoon? Cheers |
Re: Sv won't start
any syptoms or just completly dead? i.e. a clicking?
|
Re: Sv won't start
No clicking at all absolutly nothing, there is no alarm to drain battery but as I said the batt seems fine.

Re: Sv won't start
what reading have you got on the battery. just because your lights are on doesnt mean its got enough to turn it over.
side stand switch, clutch switch? |
Re: Sv won't start
Don't know only got 1 arm free at mo will try to get batt out and charge or bump, strange though I've left it for 3.5 weeks before and it was fine.

Re: Sv won't start
Do a little more digging on the battery and also check your charging circuit. ( Theres a very good post by Sid Squid that tells you what to do if you have access to a multimeter have a search )
If your battery is weak, often a sudden cold snap in the weather such as we have had recently will finish the battery off... But do the above checks I mentioned first before shelling out for a new one. |
Re: Sv won't start
My ZZR has just done the same, and I use it daily. The battery would be my first port of call. Mine just died when we had the first cold snap, no warning just completely dead. Lights etc were all working but it didn't have enough juice to turn the bike over - and no clicking from the relay, it was that flat. cheap batterys do just go like that unfortunately.

If you do need a new battery, then talk to batteryman on here - he'll be able to sort you out with a good Yuasa or similar reputable battery |
