Which Spectacles ?
 

Went for an eye test today and I am very slightly short sighted. Nothing major, but there was a noticeable difference with the lenses, so I think I'm going to get a pair and see how I get on with them.

I didn't have time to look but he said they have cheapy glasses at about £25 but they wouldn't last very long. I was thinking the reaction lenses might be good on the bike when it's sunny. Oh and he said the £75+ glasses were buy one get one free. This was at specsavers by the way

So is there any particular make I should look for or avoid? Or any other types that are good? I've seen yellow tinted ones too

oh snap! had mine done today and apparently i have a stigmatism in my left eye... who knew?

i went to tesco and they are doing £75 for two pairs. buy one get one free. so i did.

remember they are something you will be wearing every day so just go for ones that suit.

dunno bout coatings, i just went for anti glare and got one pair of normal, and one pair of sun glasses..

Me too! Can't remember which eye he said but yeh one of them is slightly oval :o He said it was quite common

Seems that half the .Org has eyesight problems (that would explain people thinking the curvy is good looking..)
I also have a stigmatism in my left eye.
I was suffering from headaches recently so went for another eye test.
I was told that with age (I'm 32!) the eye loses its ability to compensate so easily and now as a result am wearing my glasses full time (more or less).
I am long sighted and have known about this since I was at college but it never really bothered me until recently.
I found it harder to focus on certain things while riding the bike.
I guess the extra concentration needed for the bike also highlighted the problem I had.
I have tried glasses and contacts on the bike and hated both.

I have found that when it comes to glasses, dont look at the price, get a pair that you will be comfortable wearing.
If you choose a cheap pair because they are cheap (not because you like them) then you are less likely to feel comfortable in them.

Would you choose your clothes because they are cheap or because you like them?

I have been through a few different pairs now and have settled on a pair of Oakley spoke 2.0 :-

Have a word with the guys in whatever opticians you use for their opinion on frame types and shapes.
They deal with it day in and day out so will have a good idea of frame and face shape combinations.

The main thing is that you like them and feel comfortable in them.

Just worth noting that in my experience, the smaller independent opticians are usually better than the highstreet chains when it comes to customer service/time spent on clients.

Its all down to you.

How would you feel wearing them and how often would you need to wear them?


I find that I use mine all the time as I like them and feel comfortable in them.

Would you be wearing your dunlop green flash trainers as much as your air max ? ;)

IMHO no, you will I have no doubt end up wearing them much more than you think you will.

Spend a bit extra and get some nice frames, Ones with straight arms work better under a lid.

If you can afford it spend a bit extra and get the scratch proof coating put on your lenses and they also do an anti-glare, anti reflect coating as well, definately worth the extra.
