Cheap leathers, worth a go, or leave?

I've been looking around for some cheap leathers and came across the guys.

http://www.max-mph.com/products/MAX-...ARMOURED-.html

Seems OK from the pix but I'm wondering if it's going to come back and bite me on the @ rse... Can't find much about them, the price is really tempting and they look like they have pretty good armour etc.

Anyone know anything about these guys or have any advice etc would be really appreciated.

I know the "gets what you pay for" mantra but I'm self-employed, it's been a **** year and money's tight.

Any sources for cheap leathers would be great too if you think this should be left well alone.

Cheers.

There are quite of lot of "cheap" sets of leathers about. There was a chap on this forum not too long ago who ran a website with lots of options. The thread was in the Riding Gear section, oddly enough.

I'd like a magazine to test them all some time. Maybe they have, anyone know?

i'd leave them, i got a set of two piece leathers full zip, with free pair of gloves for £130 of ebay, which have performed well had one off no damadge can't remember the seller though.
I would say have another search for two piece leathers, ignore the pvc ones that come up unless that's your thing, or get some second hand but better quality/better known brand, for around £80, hth andy.

Sinbad, yeah think I've seen that thread have looked at the site and has some good bits there, tis another option.

Andy, it's also what I'm thinking. If I could find people who had bought em it'd be different. Maybe I need that weird thing they call patience, and keep looking. Hehe. Oh yeah, and PVC is definitely NOT my thing ;-)

Mr Haga, there's the rub. I live in Mallorca, Spain. Gear here is bl--dy expensive and choice is limited, that's why I'm looking web-wards for stuff.

hi chilli, yes patience is a wondrouse thing, if you have it you will allways get the best deal, haha i don't, good luck, ps it allways pays with leathers to be able to try some on befor buying ie that make to know what size you are in a certain brand, cos differant brands vary quite a lot size wise.

i have just bought leathers from j&s, they had lots of cheaper sets in stock and i think they do mail order. they explained to me about how leathers should fit and the consequences if they don't fit properly, it all made sense when they explained it to me so my advice would be to go to a shop and be fitted properly so you know how they should fit and why etc, then either buy while your there, shop around the internet looking for the same make you know that fits but is cheaper, or look for 2nd hand locally so you can go and try them on cos you now know how they should fit!

Cheers guys, I guess the search continues.
I'll go and annoy some shop staff and get the fit sorted. Just have to make sure I don't get carried away and end up buying!
