My off

Hi guys,

I'd like to say thanks to all those who helped me today with my many mistakes, mostly my off. Thanks to Specialone and Ralph for staying with me through it and also to all the others who helped.

Fortunatly while I am well thank god, the bike is a wreck and no wet wipe no matter how large or wet is going to clean it up! Ill get it looked at and see if it is salvageable at all, once I know I can then work on a master to plan to get me back on the road and riding towards my next off! :D

I had a good look with the copper while you were sat in the ambulance, obviously it's difficult to see when it's at the roadside and there is bound to be more damage than this found in the clear light of a new day, but the damage in terms of stuff totally fubarred that I found goes like this
  • Your crash bung was useless, it just sheared off
  • Nose cowl fairing
  • Left hand fairing lowers
  • Gear lever
  • front forks properly bent
  • headlight unit
  • grab rail
  • bar end
  • left hand indicators
  • probably your inner cowl panel (black panel round the clocks)
  • probably your nose cowl brace (frame inside the nose)
  • front fender (mudguard)
  • radiator bent & leaking
  • given your forks are bent, your front wheel took a whack, so it needs to be checked out for a buckle
  • clutch lever

I guess with your age you might be third party insurance? So long as your frame isn't damaged and it's running (don't run it for long, you have no cooling), it's not completely beyond repair with some help from ebay!

Specialone and others maybe can post up anything else they noticed.

Loose the fairing lowers and live without them, get a completely new nose (though a fabricator may straighten a nose brace for you). You have a damn good excuse to do a gixxer fork conversion, or replacement forks are readily available on ebay because of all the people who have done fork conversions.

With that colour not being popular you probably need to factor in a respray too, which makes it easier and cheaper getting a new nose because you don't need one that is perfect or the right colour. Your pillion seat cowl is scratched, but either refit the seat or if you respray it doesn't matter.

Your tank and tail section fairings looked OK though the tail has dislodged a tiny bit, but there was mud on them, which makes it more difficult to see.

If you see a seller on ebay called Salton Spares, they are a breaker in Kidderminster and you can collect to save postage.

The police took your ignition key and said they would give it to the recovery company with the bike. The rest of your keys are in the inside pocket of your jacket. I have your tool kit which fell out, PM your address and I'll drop it off sometime.
