Helmet - Caberg V2 Anyone got one?

Dropped my lid on the car-park floor with a proper whack last week, it has already protected my head when it collided with the floor too. So that is two tough whacks, so really I should be replacing it - right?

Am wearing my spare lid at the moment, so its not a really pressing issue.

Although I have seen the following lid:

Caberg V2

It looks like a good lid and does well in the sharp (don't shout at me) tests and is quite reasonable price wise.

Anyone got any comments?

I've got one, it's not a quiet helmet, but I like it, best feature is the flip down internal sun visor. My next helmet must also have that.

I don't do a lot of motorway mileage so the noise isn't a big factor for me.

Yeah it's not particularly quiet but it's fairly comfortable. It fogs up less than my Shark helmet which cost me twice as much. The sun visor is pretty useful but it's not as dark as i'd like it to be, but since getting my Shark helmet I don't mind simply changing the visors round.

They're okay depending how much you want to use them. I had two and they both have little plastic bumps that secure the main visor down. After about 4 months of use everyday the plastic bump wore out and when doing lifesavers on the M'way the main visor would lift up. Tried to send both back but Caberg wouldn't have any of it claiming I had more than 'normal' use. I wouldn't touch any of their products now out of principle.

Had mine for over two years. Had no problems, but then I'm a light user (only covered around 6000 miles). It is noisy, but nothing ear plugs can't cure. Visor remains mist free when I ride in the rain, even when its cold. I like the helmet and will probably replace it with another Caberg V2 when the time comes.

Not a good experience with mine I'm afraid
  • Lining packs down thin a leaving you with a helmet thats a bit too big, any new lid loosens off but this was more than that
  • Vents are there for style not function because they make no difference
  • Sucks air in at the chin and blows it up the inside of your visor at your brow. Dried out my contact lenses and in the winter it can be an icy blast that makes our nose run and gives you an ice cream headache
  • Visor seal leaks eventually and rain starts to run down the inside of the visor and you can't see anything
  • Bad for fogging, but to be fair most sub £200 helmets are

Blimey - A real mixed bag there!

I saw one for £79.99 and thought it might be a decent alternative to my Nitro I have just buggered up or the RST one I am now using which I don't like.

Might go and try a few on tomorrow.

If your going for a cheap helmet you could do a lot worse than an HJC if they fit your bonce.

I have a V2R and its quite comfortable. Looks good. Sun visor is great.

Bad Points -

Noisy as hell (and I wear ear plugs). Vents don't seem to do much.
