Afghanistan elections

Karzai is now declared winner after the rerun is called off?! UK congratulating him etc etc after the UN admits that the initial elections suffered from massive fraud and vote rigging in his favour?! What kind of example of democracy is that setting?! I am lost for words, as I hope you can tell from my excessive punctuation. ](*,)

Modern "democracy" is a joke anyway. You get to vote for a bunch of liars who promise certain things just to get in. Once they are in they do what the hell they please and we can do nothing but vote for the other shower of sheets to replace them.

We vote out who we dont want, not vote in who we do want. How is that democratic???

Sadly the corrupt bunch were put in place to allow brit and US interests to thrive, so they need their troops in their to help maintain a phoney peace.

The bigge joke is how some people still believe that they are trying to get rid of the Taliban when in certain areas they have given the Taliban back full control because they say "its easier, they can maintain the status quo for us"

Then again, can you blame them for not being able to find any candidates to run Afghanistan?! I wouldn't want that job! :)

The problem is, the spotlight of the whole world was on these elections, it was supposed to justify the entire war there and prove that democracy was the best solution for the countries people. Now that is in tatters.

That is the most insightful comment I've seen for a long, long time.

As to the other. The world is run as a business, ultimately coming down to the self interest of those in power.

Would the lawlessness of the Somali pirates be allowed to continue if Somalia had oil? Every rabid western politician would be calling for intervention.
