Police stopping motorcyclists on Blackheath Hill (A2)

Anybody else unlucky enough to get caught this morning on their way into town on the A2?

There were three police bikes and riders parked up at the junction with Greenwich South Street, watching bikes come down the hill and filter past the stationary traffic on the wrong side of the double white lines. Friendly officer then flagged you down, waved you across to the newsagents across the road and served you with a fixed penalty endorsable notice. £60 lighter and three points heavier -- damn! -- I headed on into the office.

Looks like my forward observation needs some work on it.

There were me and two others being processed, with one other unlucky rider flagged down just as I was about to ride off.

Well it is nearly crimbo and those poor old met boys need to get their bonuses giving pointless fines to people going about their business.

I thought if the traffic was stopped or under 10mph it was ok. How ever it does state "stationary vehicle" (single not many).

Double white lines where the line nearest you is solid. This means you MUST NOT cross or straddle it unless it is safe and you need to enter adjoining premises or a side road. You may cross the line if necessary, provided the road is clear, to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10 mph (16 km/h) or less.

The road coming up the hill in the opposite direction is two lanes, but there was a truck coming up the road as I went past another truck coming down the hill, so I'm bang-to-rights as far as I can tell.

they did the same near me, morden road, heading to morden from south wimbledon, last week.
double white line, on the hump back, they were sittng on the other side, so you did not see them until it was too late.
lucky for me i was in the cage that day.
when i first saw the bikes pulled over, i did wander what it was all about, maybe bike safety?
but on the way back, i saw them pull a couple of bikes:-(

sorry should of posted this earlier, so eveyone be careful out there with the white doubles, police must be after bike figures

Road layout sounds similar to Muswell Hill to me. I rode over the double lines past the stationary traffic slowly and spotted a cop car in the queue of traffic. Drivers spotted me too and did his window down and did a kinda beckoning gesture towards me as i approached. So i slowed down, opened my visor, slowed right down by then without stopping and shouted "thanks guys, thats cool of you to wave me on" and carried on nice and slow.
Did expect a blue light or blip of the sirens but nothing, result!
