COD Modern Warfare 2 or whatever
I know that a lot of people on here like their video games, but I curious why so many people seem to enjoy the war games. I've not played any myself and don't really want to. It just seems a little strange that today in particular, people are more than happy to play these games. I believe that Modern Warfare 2 has only just been released, which leads me to ask why was it released so close to rememberance/armistice day?
What do people think? |

A lot of people have been after it from Sainsbury's, loads of phone calls this evening & yesterday as it was only £26.00... £35+ elseware, brother just got £6.13 back from Amazon.co.uk as they've reduced their price to £28.00 (something). 10million copies were preordered.. madness? |
Re: COD Modern Warfare 2 or whatever
I kinda know what you mean here. it bothers me to know that these games were originally designed for the US army to take away the hesitation of killing, hence they make them so realistic.
But to me its almost like a movie where you are in charge of the main characters behaviour. It just happens to be a war movie. release date thing tho, cynical side of me agrees with you that they timed it like this. |

Why shouldn't people play war based games? Why do some people watch war films? Why do some people read war novels? Computer games are no less of a legitimate medium than film or print, but when morons like the daily wail get their hands on a mole hill they do everything they can to make it into a mountain... |

I do like your quote at the end though, very true. |

Just because it's the player that can make the choice rather than being forced to watch makes no difference, the events are still the same, if you don't want to see it you don't watch the film, if you don't want to play it you don't play the game. Simples. Given the game, if it's as graphic and terrible as the sensational media reports indicate, will have an 18 rating, I think adults can decide for themselves whether they want to play it or not. |
