Who spins their TD back tyre round?
I know a few guys who spin certain rear track day tyres round to get more out of them.
Does anyone here do it or have experience of doing it in the past? If so what bike, and what tyres? |
Re: Who spinds their TD back tyre round?
We have been known to do it on our race bikes (ZX10R and 675) for the last race of the day. We use Metzeler Racetechs and have even done it with Bridgestone and Dunlop slicks. We will never spin any wet tyre though.

I'm sure Blue mentioned he'd done this before. Same as Lozzo, obviously not on wets, or any grooved tyre in the wet.....

Sounds like the BT-003R should take it then. Should get an extra weekend out of it, tyres are getting an expensive habbit.

You spinning the front and rear around Tim, or just the rear?

Re: Who spinds their TD back tyre round?
I was just going to spin the rear as I thought the front construction was more direction biased, also I've known a lot of poeple spin the rear, but not the front, although is this common practice too?

you are a cheapskate at times how's the gaffer tape coming along ? Have u thought about doing the ring on rock hard road Tyres yet ? Bob |
Re: Who spinds their TD back tyre round?
I've thought about taking the PR2s round the Ring, but then realised I'd be quicker than a BT002/003/GP racer equipped diesel 'Blade and thought better of it, I don't want to be that slow :D
Bt016 random combo may be fitted for Easter sighting weekend. Then grippy stuff for the summer. Struggling with the XR frame mounted oil screen, can't get it out, even mole grips aren't working..... |
Re: Who spinds their TD back tyre round?
Gaffer tape is fine, going to order a polycarb version from evil bay, should sort the vibration fatigue issues by introducing some flex, and more importantly shouldn't work harden like the cheap alloy.

Bob likes the dieselblade
